55 miles north west of Ely Nevada. A once thriving gold and silver mining area.
The pony express ran thru Cherry Creek and the Overland Stage.
Indian attacks and a wild and wooly history. Egan Canyon west of Cherry Creek
had a pony express station that had been attacked by Indians and saved in the nick of
time by a passing US Calvary unit alerted by an express rider who came upon the attack.
